HGK Australia Homestay 2024

We will head home today. It has been an amazing two weeks. More photos will be added to this blog when we return. We look forward to seeing our families soon.

Today was my birthday and it was the best day in this trip . In the morning , my host family gave to me a hug Later, when I arrived at school , my friends said Happy Birthday.  I was so happy because after that , we went to Australiao Zoo and I could toe touch Koalas and Kangaroos . They were so adorable and the koala was so fluffy. Also , I bought some souvenirs for my  family . I think they'll love them. I took In after school many pictures of animals and my friends. These are my valuable memories . After schooL my host family gave me a surprise birthday cake. I was happy and it was so good . Also , we went to Sunshine Plaza and I bought many things: snacks , clothes and organic skincare All of the things are my favorite! I will do my best to enjoy it. It was raining very hard today and it was hard to go to school . In the morning, I learned about the animals at the Australian Zoo and learned more about Australian animals in general. In the afternoon, we had planned to play sports outside, but since it was raining, we decide to do our presentations instead . It was a little disappointing , but I did get a sense of accomplishment. When I got home, I mades miso soup and it was very delicious. At that time, I started to miss Japanese food a little Lastly, I played with the bird my host family keeps  and went to sleep.  Unfortunately, it rained all day today. In the morning, we learned about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples symbols in artwork and tried to draw them. We also learned the lyrics of the Australian national anthem in class and sang it together at the end.  After the morning class, I had ice cream and a chicken sandwich made by my host mother. All the food my host mother made was delicious. When I got home, Eiji and I ate some chicken nuggets. A few hours later, we had curry rice for dinner and were full. After that, we took a bath and went to bed. There are only four days left until we return home. We are going to enjoy the limited remaining days to the fullest ! Today was a very fun day. In class we made and ate lamingtons, an Australian snack, and ate vegemite, which is said to be the worst jam in the world, on bread.  Vegemite is a kind of salty like miso paste that is not very tasty. At lunch time, we played handball with NCC students.  Handball is not what you might imagine, but a simple version of a type of handball called Gehrig's handball, in which you bounce the ball in your own area and put it into your opponent's court. The sensation is like a hand version of ping-pong, and it's a lot of fun. In the afternoon, we did our presentations.  Our team talked about origami and everyone laughed and listened to us, so I was happy to see that we had succeeded. After returning to our homestay, we made hamburgers together.  The food we made together was very delicious. After that, we all played scrabble together.  Scrabble is a game like a crossword, and it was very interesting. I am sad that this homestay will be over in...

Today was a very exciting day. In the morning, we made colorful T-shirts. And we went to Sunshine Plaza to buy souvenirs, body soap, and some food. We bought Sushi for lunch, it was delicious. And after that we went bowling. That was the second time I went bowling, I came 4th. I enjoyed today, it was an exciting day. S.O (boy) I got up late, around 9 a.m. I ate some bread and watermelon for breakfast. I went to aquarium "SEA LIFE" in the morning with Ren and our host father. I saw some fish there: first, I went to see the starfish tank and touched the starfish. There was a difference in feel so it was interesting. Next, I went to see the shark tank. It was arched.  I could be looked up from below. After that, I went to see the fur seal show. The fur seal's name was Mowana. Mowana was smart so it was nice show. Today was my first weekend in Australia. I was very excited !!  Last night we did a bbq with my host dad’s friend in the house and they stayed home so this morning we went to Marcoola beach with Chewy and Nick. We had a walk on the beach. We had fun collecting beautiful shells and playing with dogs.  After that, we went to Montville to have lunch. We were planning to have a meat pie but the shop was closed so we decided to eat fish and chips. Then we went to a toy shop and we bought two toys. Last, we went to a chocolate shop and I bought some souvenirs for my family.  After that, we went to Kondalilla Falls. It was very clear in the sky and it was quiet. We put our legs inside the water but it was too cold for me to swim but there were people swimming there.  When I came home we made pizza together and I really liked putting pineapple on pizza. I woke up at 5:30 this morning, and I started my day with a fresh apple, a banana, and a Starbucks matcha latte. I went to NCC later on, and I took the English classes until lunch time. I had a lot of fun playing a short game and quizzes. At lunch time, I really enjoyed chatting with my buddy and her friends while walking around the school to see some students perform with their Mario costumes. It was a pleasure to be closer to them compared to my first day meeting them, and I can’t wait to see them again next week! After school, Rosa and I went to the tennis court together with our host family, and watched our host family’s oldest sister take her lessons. After that, we went back home and had a really nice pizza for dinner. We ate an ice cream together for dessert while watching the Olympics, and I had a great time talking to them.  Maybe it sounds like a normal day, but for me, it was a memorable day because I am really happy that I was able to spend precious time with my host fa...
